One of Sweden’s most reputable biotech companies, with roots in Pharmacia, has long been established in biomarker and assay development. Their precision assays have enabled groundbreaking discoveries for decades, forming the backbone of research in diabetes and other metabolic diseases.

Yet, despite their technological excellence, the company struggled for more than a decade to penetrate the Asia-Pacific market—a strategically extremely important one. Multiple approaches have been tried, including several attempts with internal consultants, and failed over a period of many years.

The business moved from stagnation to sustained growth, achieving several‑fold expansion across the region and more than tenfold growth in key markets such as China. This growth was accompanied by a significant improvement in profitability and a strengthened financial foundation.

At the same time, a dedicated collaboration in the clinical diagnostics field allowed the company to enter a completely new, much larger market that had previously been out of reach. In parallel, scientific leadership was established through Dr. Chi’s presence as an invited speaker at major international conferences, giving the company a strong and lasting voice at the forefront of science.


As a direct result of this success, Dr. Chi’s mandate was extended beyond Asia-Pacific to become managing director of Asia and the Middle East.

Working under a flexible collaboration model, Channel Innometrics acted as an independent consultant responsible for driving licensing and business development in the Asian market. This structure allowed the company to leverage senior expertise and networks without the overhead of a permanent in-house team.
The results were remarkable: within less than a year, this collaboration delivered the highest number of licensing agreements ever achieved by the company in a single year and secured its first-ever commercial licensing deal – a milestone that significantly elevated its market position and commercial outlook.

Recognizing the broader potential of this innovation, Channel Biomedix approached the company and entered into an independent development agreement. Under this model, we took full responsibility for developing a specific market as their independent distributor. Over the following decade, this collaboration became the company’s most successful international operation, expanding applications and achieving sustained growth.
On the strength of these results, the relationship evolved into a strategic partnership, with Channel becoming a stakeholder in the company to align long-term interests and innovation goals. Today, this hearing protection product is regarded as one of the best in the world, with international recognition and features in Forbes, The New York Times, Women’s Health, and National Geographic.
